The Datathon will take place at ETH Zurich for the opening ceremony on Friday. Then on Saturday and Sunday the actual hackathon will take place at the Careum Auditorium.
The opening ceremony will begin on Friday 17.04 from 15:00 onwards and ending with an apero with food and drinks at around 20:00. The next day, Saturday 18.04, participants will arrive between 8:00 - 9:00 for breakfast. The hackathon will then start at 12:00 and go overnight until Sunday 19.04 at 12:00. We expect the closing ceremony to end by 17:00 on Sunday.
* This is an estimated timeline so please leave room for changes.
Proper sleeping accomodation is not provided but participants are allowed to sleep at the hackathon. Please bring your sleeping bags!
There will also be a sleeping section blocked off with some sleeping cots and mats, but this space is limited and will not fit every participant. Saving a spot in the sleeping section is not allowed.
We will also create a communication channel for people who can host someone at their homes. This will happen after normal registration confirmations are sent out (around the first week of April).
During the Datathon on Saturday and Sunday, you will have access to the sport facility at Polyterrase - ASVZ for showers during their normal opening hours. It is located about 11 minutes walk from the Careum Auditorium. You can enter by letting the person at the entrance know that you are from the Datathon.
* Please note that only showers are permitted for use -- you are not allowed to use any of the sports facilities or lockers. Also please avoid going in large groups at the same time as the facility will be in use by their regular members.
We will provide food and drinks during the event. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks. We will try to cater to dietary restrictions but we can not guarantee that all requests will be met so please plan accordingly. There will always be a veggie option available.
In Switzerland, tap water is of very high quality and it is very common for students to use their own reusable water bottles to drink from. We will not provide water bottles so please bring your own.
For everyone
- Laptop, charger, any accessories you need
- Reusable water bottle
- Comfortable change of clothes
- Lots of energy and motivation
For those sleeping at the hackathon

- Ear plugs and eye mask
- Hygiene products
For those with dietary restrictions, in case we can not meet your needs
- Your own food and snacks
The deadline for applications is 23:59 on Sunday 22.03.
All teams will be made up of 3-4 members. You are welcome to apply as a solo or as a duo, but you will be assigned a full team by us for the hackathon.
If you have any changes to your team (e.g. addition of new members, change of team, etc), please send an email to us with the following information. Only one member of your team needs to send the most up to date information.
- Team name
- Name of all members in the team (including yourself)
* If you are leaving a team, you must specify what happens to the other members from your original team.
If you are accepted, we will send you a confirmation email by Monday 06.04. We will try our hardest to meet this deadline but there may be delays. Please be patient with us and refrain from sending us emails directly unless it is urgent.
If you are waitlisted, we may reach out to you in case of cancellation from the confirmed participants.
If you have confirmed but you are no longer able to attend the Datathon in person, please contact us as soon as possible via email. This allows us to give your spot to another candidate.
The ENHANCE Alliance is a partnership between 10 leading technical universities of Europe. The Swiss mobility organization Movetia will provide a stipend for each student currently enrolled in these universities to attend the Datathon.
You must be a currently enrolled student from one of the universities of the ENHANCE Alliance and must be travelling to Zurich to attend in person.
Students will receive 80CHF per day plus an additional 100CHF for sustainable travel (see below).
Students can receive an additional 100CHF for sustainable travel which includes travel to Zurich via train, bus, or ferry. Air transport or car pooling does not count. Proof of sustainable travel with a receipt is required to receive the stipend.
The reimbursement for the stipend will happen after the Datathon only with the submission of receipts and proof of attendance. We will send a google form to your emails to be filled in with all the required information.
